habits and reports its
findings back to another
computer somewhere else
in the world. So
how do we go about
removing spyware from
our systems?
As with most things
Spyware exists in
various forms with most
users are blissfully
unaware they’ve been
infected. This type of
Spyware is generally
used for advertising
purposes, and although
extremely annoying
doesn’t pose a serious
threat. However, in its
worst form it can
totally disable your
Internet connection,
possibly even your
computer whilst covertly
passing on confidential
information about
yourself to a third
party. Documents
containing your bank
details and login
passwords are
particularly targeted
for obvious reasons.
So if you think your
computer is infected,
here are some common
symptoms to watch out
for:
-
Computer runs slowly
or experiences
random lockups.
-
Internet connection
runs slowly or takes
you to websites not
requested.
-
You receive lots of
bounce-back emails
from unknown users.
-
You computer appears
to have a mind of
its own.
-
Your credit card,
bank account has
been compromised.
The good news however is
that there are programs
available today that
quickly scan your
computer and report back
if any Spyware has
infected your hard
drive. These programs
are also capable of
isolating and removing
spyware from you
computer altogether.
Like you would expect
anti-spyware programs
come in various
flavours, most are
chargeable, however
there are a few that are
free.
The latest version of
Norton Anti-Virus now
incorporates an
anti-spyware client for
the ultimate in computer
security. Windows
Vista also includes its
own product; aply named
'Windows Defender'.
However, most users not
prepared to upgrade
their operating system
or version of Norton
anti-virus still prefer
a stand alone
anti-spyware program.
Obviously some are
better than others.

which anti-spyware
program to choose, make
